I believe many industry insiders know that before die-casting production, die-casting molds need to be preheated or locally heated in lower areas of the mold, especially for formed parts.
So what is the purpose of preheating die casting molds?
1. It can avoid the rapid decrease in flowability of molten metal due to quenching, which may lead to under casting or increased surface roughness of die castings, or large linear shrinkage of die castings caused by quenching, resulting in shrinkage cracks.
2. Reduce the thermal fatigue stress of the mold and prevent it from expanding and cracking due to heat stimulation
3. By preheating, the sliding fit of the mold can be adjusted without distinguishing the thermal expansion gap, to avoid the penetration of molten metal into the gap and affect the normal production process.
4. The increase in temperature can reduce the density of air in the mold cavity, which is beneficial for the discharge of air in the mold cavity.
