  Anodizing aluminum alloy die-casting parts can improve strength and achieve any color except black, but why do few aluminum alloy die-casting factories do anodizing treatment?

  What is anodizing?

  The principle of anodizing aluminum alloy die-casting parts is a process of generating decorative and protective films on the surface of aluminum and aluminum alloy. In principle, the process of forming an oxide film on aluminum alloy is actually an electrochemical reaction, that is, the current passes through a suitable acid electrolyte under sufficient voltage, forming a porous oxide film layer on the aluminum surface. Due to the active chemical properties of aluminum itself, a dense oxide film of aluminum is formed on the surface of aluminum alloy, which prevents the internal aluminum from continuing to oxidize. Therefore, surface oxidation treatment of aluminum alloy die castings is carried out to thicken the oxide film of aluminum, enhance the corrosion resistance and wear resistance of aluminum alloy die castings.

  2. Why do many aluminum alloy die-casting factories not perform anodizing treatment on die-casting aluminum alloys?

  Firstly, most aluminum alloy die castings use aluminum silicon series alloys, which contain primary and eutectic silicon. During anodizing, silicon cannot be oxidized, only aluminum is oxidized. Therefore, after anodizing, the surface of aluminum silicon alloy die castings is porous and loose, which does not provide protection. The yield of aluminum alloy die castings is relatively low, so many customers do not request anodizing treatment.

  Secondly, the current die-casting technology in our country is not advanced enough. The cost of anodizing aluminum alloy die-casting parts is relatively high. In addition, many aluminum alloy die-casting parts cannot be anodized due to structural reasons. Therefore, we do not recommend customers to do anodizing treatment, as it not only wastes time but also resources.
