Zinc alloy die-casting smelting is an important part of the zinc alloy die-casting process. The smelting process is not only to obtain the molten metal, but more importantly, to obtain a chemical composition that meets the regulations, which can enable the die-casting parts to obtain good crystalline structure and a molten metal with very small gas and inclusions. During the smelting process, the interaction between metal and gas, as well as the interaction between metal liquid and crucible, causes changes in composition, resulting in inclusions and aspiration. Therefore, developing correct melting process regulations and strictly implementing them is an important guarantee for obtaining high-quality castings. Common zinc alloy die-casting zinc alloy melting methods:
1. Preparation before melting
The crucible must be cleaned before use to remove surface oil stains, rust, slag, and oxides.
Tools: Smelting tools should be cleaned of surface dirt before use, and the parts in contact with metal must be preheated and coated with paint. Tools should not be soaked in water, otherwise it may cause splashing and explosion of molten liquid.
Alloy material: Before melting, it should be cleaned quickly and preheated to remove surface moisture.
2. Smelting process
Prepare zinc material, porous handle, ingot slot, flux, etc. Note that all tools must be preheated, coated, and dried before use.
Turn on the power switch, start the fuel engine switch, ignite the flame, and cover the furnace cover.
Add crushed zinc material to the bottom of the furnace and wait for it to melt to a solid state before adding zinc ingots inward.
Timely remove the floating slag on the liquid surface of the zinc crucible, replenish the zinc material in a timely manner, and maintain the normal height of the molten liquid surface, because too much floating slag and too low liquid surface can easily cause the material slag to enter the injection system, leading to pulling and jamming of the hot work piece.
When stopping the machine, scoop out the zinc melt and adjust the temperature in three stages during remelting to avoid cold material explosion and burning out the crucible.
3. Use and maintenance of crucibles
The crucible must be cleaned before use to remove surface oil stains, rust, slag, and oxides.
It is strictly prohibited to throw zinc ingots into the crucible during use to avoid damaging the crucible.
After production is completed, the zinc liquid in the crucible must be scooped dry before stopping the furnace.
