What are the four types of heat treatments for processing aluminum alloy die-casting parts

2023-12-26 hits:0 source:News

  1. Annealing treatment

The process of heating aluminum alloy die castings to a higher temperature, usually around 300 ℃, holding them for a certain period of time, and cooling them to room temperature in the furnace is called annealing. During the annealing process, the solid solution decomposes and the second phase particles aggregate, which can eliminate internal stress in the casting, stabilize the casting size, reduce deformation, and increase the plasticity of the casting.

  2. Timely processing

The process of heating a solid solution casting to a certain temperature, holding it for a certain period of time, and then slowly cooling it to room temperature in air is called aging. If aging strengthening is carried out at room temperature, it is called natural aging strengthening. If aging strengthening is higher than room temperature and kept for a period of time, it is called artificial aging. The spontaneous process of decomposition of supersaturated solid solutions is timely handled to restore the lattice of the alloy matrix to a relatively stable state.

  3. Cold and hot cycle treatment

After cold and hot cycling treatment, the casting undergoes multiple heating and cooling processes, causing the lattice of the solid solution to shrink and expand, resulting in slight displacement of the lattice of each phase and placing the second phase particle in a more stable state, thereby improving the stability of the casting size and making it suitable for the manufacturing of precision parts.

  4. Solid solution treatment

Heat the casting to a temperature as high as possible, close to the melting point of the eutectic, maintain it at this temperature for a sufficient amount of time, and then rapidly cool to dissolve the strengthening element to the maximum extent possible. This high-temperature state fixed at room temperature is called solid solution treatment. Solid solution treatment can improve the strength and plasticity of castings, and enhance the corrosion resistance of alloys.
