The causes and solutions of pitting in zinc alloy die castings

2023-12-21 hits:0 source:News

  Zinc alloy die-casting is a precision casting method that uses high pressure to force a metal solution into a complex shaped metal mold. However, sometimes during the production process, there may be pitting on the die-casting parts. What is the reason for this?

  1. When filling, the metal disperses dense droplets, which highly impact the wall;

  2. The thickness of the inner gate is too small;

  3. The speed of the internal gate is too fast;

  4. The mold temperature is low.

  Corresponding measures to solve pitting in zinc alloy die castings:

  1. At the beginning of hot stamping, it will be found that the metal flow is dispersed. The pouring system should be designed correctly to avoid splashing of the metal liquid, improve exhaust conditions, and avoid excessive gas entrapment caused by the liquid flow;

  2. At the beginning of hot stamping, it will be noticed that the metal liquid process is in a jet shape, and the thickness and speed of the inner gate will be adjusted appropriately;

  3. The surface of the casting is darkened and accompanied by a cold shut off. To increase the mold temperature to within the process requirements, the method is to turn on the mold heater or spray less and heat more molds.
