High quality die-casting molds in the aluminum alloy die-casting process

2024-05-22 hits:0 source:News

  1. It has good oxidation resistance and tempering stability

Aluminum alloy die-casting molds produced in large quantities continuously should maintain their high hardness and not stick to the mold or produce oxide skin when exposed to a certain temperature for a long time. Therefore, the mold should have good oxidation resistance and tempering stability. The surface of aluminum alloy die-casting molds is repeatedly heated and cooled at high temperatures, constantly expanding and contracting, resulting in alternating thermal stress. When this stress exceeds the elastic limit of the mold material, repeated plastic deformation occurs, causing thermal fatigue. At the same time, the surface of the mold is corroded and oxidized by molten metal for a long time, and micro cracks will gradually appear. In most cases, thermal fatigue is the most important factor determining the lifespan of the die casting mold.

  2) Having sufficient strength, hardness, plasticity, and heat resistance.

Due to the high temperature, high pressure, and thermal stress caused by molten metal injection, aluminum alloy die casting molds are prone to deformation and even cracking. Therefore, mold steel should have sufficient high-temperature strength and toughness, as well as high hardness and heat resistance at working temperature.

  3) Has good thermal conductivity.

Due to the long-term exposure of aluminum alloy die-casting molds to high temperatures of 600-700 ° C, in order to ensure other performance. Must have good thermal conductivity.

  4) Has good resistance to damage from molten metal.

With the scaling up of die-casting machines, the die-casting pressure is also increasing, from 20-30mpa at low pressure to 150-500mpa at high pressure. High temperature and high pressure casting can cause significant melting damage, and the mold has a strong resistance to this. Therefore, the mold material must have high temperature strength. A smaller affinity for molten metal, the mold indicates a lower roughness and is accompanied by appropriate protective layers such as oxidation molds and nitriding layers, without the presence of decarburization layers.
