Process flow of post die-casting machining

Post die casting processing refers to further processing of die cast parts after they have been formed, in order to improve their accuracy, surface quality, and performance. The post die-casting machining process usually includes the following steps:

  1、 Deburring

During the molding process of die-casting parts, some burrs may be generated on the surface of the parts due to the presence of parting surfaces, gates, overflow ports, and other parts of the mold. These burrs not only affect the appearance quality of the parts, but may also affect the assembly and performance of the parts. Therefore, the first step in machining after die-casting is usually deburring treatment. There are many methods for deburring, such as manual deburring, mechanical deburring, chemical deburring, etc. Manual deburring is one of the most commonly used methods, which can remove burrs on the surface of parts by using tools such as files, sandpaper, and wire brushes. Mechanical deburring is the use of mechanical equipment such as deburring machines, sandblasting machines, etc. to remove burrs from the surface of parts. Chemical deburring is the use of chemical solutions to corrode and remove burrs on the surface of parts.

  2、 Polishing

After deburring, there may still be some uneven areas on the surface of the parts that need to be polished. Grinding can be done using tools such as sandpaper, grinding wheel, polishing machine, etc. The purpose of polishing is to make the surface of the part smoother and smoother, improve the appearance quality and surface roughness of the part.

  3、 Drilling and tapping

If die-casting parts need to be assembled or connected, drilling and tapping may be required. Drilling is the process of using a drill bit to drill the required holes in a component, while tapping is the process of using a tap to create threads within the holes. The accuracy and quality of drilling and tapping directly affect the assembly and performance of parts, so it is necessary to strictly control the parameters and operating methods during the machining process.

  4、 Surface treatment

In order to improve the surface quality and corrosion resistance of die cast parts, surface treatment can be carried out. There are many methods for surface treatment, such as electroplating, spraying, anodizing, etc. Electroplating is the process of immersing parts in an electroplating solution and depositing a layer of metal coating on the surface of the parts through electrochemical reactions, such as galvanizing, chrome plating, nickel plating, etc. Spraying is the process of applying paint onto the surface of a component to form a protective film, such as spray painting or plastic spraying. Anodizing is the process of using a component as an anode, placing it in an electrolyte, and forming a layer of oxide film on the surface of the component through electrolysis, such as aluminum alloy anodizing.

  5、 Inspection and packaging

After completing all processing steps, it is necessary to inspect the die-casting parts to ensure that the quality of the parts meets the requirements. The inspection includes aspects such as dimensional accuracy, surface quality, and mechanical properties. After passing the inspection, package the parts for easy transportation and storage.

In summary, the post die casting machining process includes steps such as deburring, polishing, drilling and tapping, surface treatment, inspection, and packaging. Each step requires strict control of the parameters and operating methods during the machining process to ensure that the quality and performance of the parts meet the requirements.
