Before surface pre-treatment, the condition of the surface of aluminum alloy die castings will affect the next step and directly affect the quality of the castings. Surface pre-treatment generally includes surface leveling, oil removal, rust removal, acid pickling, gloss treatment, etc.
Aluminum alloy die castings may sometimes be covered with oil stains, rust, oxide layers, adsorption layers, etc. before surface treatment. If the removal effect is not achieved, it directly affects the bonding between the coating and substrate of the die casting. To remove these problems, the following methods must be followed. 1、 Surface polishing includes two methods: mechanical polishing and chemical polishing. Mechanical polishing includes sandblasting, rolling, and polishing. This method is suitable for die-casting parts with high surface requirements. 2、 Oil removal, also known as degreasing, can be divided into two methods: organic solvent degreasing and chemical degreasing. 3、 Rust removal can be achieved by using acid or alkaline solution to corrode the surface of die castings. 4、 Alkali corrosion, in order to remove the natural oxide film and oil stains on the casting, can be carried out by alkaline solution corrosion after oil removal, causing the metal oxide on the surface of the part to peel off and expose the surface of the base metal.
To minimize the defect rate of aluminum alloy die castings, preventive measures must be taken and extensive experience must be gained to minimize the defect rate of castings.
