　　Sand casting

　　Sand casting is a casting process that combines the characteristics of sand casting and die-casting.

　　In sand casting, the mold is made of sand. This type of sand usually undergoes special treatment and has a certain strength and high temperature resistance. When making sand molds, a series of operations such as mold shaping and compacting the sand mold are used to form the cavity. Then, the liquid metal is poured into the sand mold through a gate, and the metal liquid cools and solidifies in the sand mold to form a casting. Compared with other die-casting processes, sand casting has relatively flexible mold making and can quickly produce molds according to different casting shapes and sizes.

　　One of the advantages of sand casting is that the mold cost is relatively low, especially for the production of castings with complex shapes and small batches. Sand casting can have a significant advantage in mold cost. Moreover, sand molds can adapt to the casting of various metal materials, including some special alloy materials. In addition, sand casting has relatively simple equipment requirements and does not require complex high-pressure or vacuum systems.

　　However, sand casting also has some shortcomings. Due to the limited strength and precision of sand molds, the dimensional accuracy and surface quality of castings produced are usually not as good as those produced by pressure die casting and vacuum pressure die casting. Moreover, sand molds are prone to damage during the casting process, especially in large-scale production where the lifespan of the molds is short and new sand molds need to be frequently made.
