The difference between die-casting and squeeze casting

Die casting and squeeze casting are two different metal forming processes with various differences.

In terms of process principle, die casting is the rapid filling of the mold cavity with molten metal at high speed and high pressure, and the solidification of the metal liquid under pressure. Squeezing casting is the process of first pouring liquid metal into the mold cavity, and then applying significant mechanical pressure to solidify and shape the liquid metal under pressure.

From the perspective of mold lifespan, die-casting molds experience significant impact due to high-speed and high-pressure filling, resulting in relatively short mold lifespan. The pressure borne by squeeze casting molds is relatively uniform, and the mold life is usually longer.

In terms of product performance, the internal structure of die-casting products is relatively loose, which may have defects such as pores, and the strength and toughness may be affected to some extent. Squeezing casting products have a denser structure and generally better mechanical properties than die-casting products.

In terms of cost, die-casting has high production efficiency, suitable for large-scale production, and relatively low cost. The production efficiency of squeeze casting is relatively low and the cost is high, but it can produce products with better performance.
