Die casting production and manufacturing process flow

The manufacturing process of die-casting mainly includes the following key steps:

  Mold preparation

Firstly, it is necessary to design and manufacture die-casting molds. The design of molds needs to be determined based on factors such as the shape, size, and precision requirements of the parts. The material used to manufacture molds is usually high-strength alloy mold steel, which undergoes a series of processes such as forging, processing, and heat treatment to ensure that the mold has sufficient strength, hardness, and wear resistance. After the completion of mold manufacturing, strict inspection should be carried out to check the dimensional accuracy, surface quality, and operation of the demolding mechanism of the mold cavity.

  Raw material preparation

The commonly used raw materials for die-casting are various alloys, such as aluminum alloy, zinc alloy, magnesium alloy, etc. These alloy materials need to be inspected to ensure their chemical composition meets the requirements. Then heat the raw materials to a liquid state. The melting temperature of aluminum alloy is generally around 600-700 ℃, while that of zinc alloy is around 400-500 ℃.

  Die casting process

Inject liquid metal into the mold cavity at high speed through the injection system of the die-casting machine. Die casting machines are divided into hot chamber die casting machines and cold chamber die casting machines. Hot chamber die casting machines are suitable for die casting low melting point alloys such as zinc alloys, while cold chamber die casting machines are suitable for die casting higher melting point alloys such as aluminum alloys and magnesium alloys. In the die-casting process, the injection pressure is usually between tens of megapascals to hundreds of megapascals, ensuring that the liquid metal can quickly and uniformly fill the mold cavity.

  Demoulding and post-processing

After the die-casting is completed, open the mold and remove the die-casting part from the mold. The die cast parts after demolding may have some defects such as burrs and burrs, which need to be cleaned. Then, according to the requirements of the parts, some post-processing procedures may be necessary, such as heat treatment, surface treatment (such as electroplating, spraying, etc.), to improve the performance and appearance quality of the parts.
