How to choose steel for die-casting molds
① The steel used for die casting molds should have high strength and certain toughness at high temperatures, sufficient hardness and wear resistance;
② Has excellent heat resistance and fatigue resistance, avoiding early cracking of the mold;
③ It should have good thermal conductivity, corrosion resistance, and oxidation resistance.
According to the different uses of die-casting molds, they are required to have different hardness. The higher the surface hardness, the better the wear resistance, and it will not cause liquid metal to adhere to the mold cavity. The tough and soft core and high hardness surface make the die-casting mold have good working performance.
The domestic steel grades used for die-casting aluminum alloys in production include 3Cr2W8V, 3Cr3Mo3W2V, and 4Cr5MoSiV, with a hardness value of 42-50HRC;
The domestic steel grades for die-casting zinc alloys include 40CrMo, 3Cr2W8V, CrWMn, and 4Cr5MoSiV, with a hardness value of 42-48HRC;
