Oxidation Treatment of Die Casting Products
Oxidation treatment of die casting products can enhance their surface properties and appearance. There are different types of oxidation processes. Anodizing is a widely used method. In anodizing, the die casting product is made the anode in an electrolytic bath. A layer of oxide forms on the surface, which can increase the hardness and wear resistance. This oxide layer also provides better adhesion for paints or other coatings if further decoration is desired.

This layer can offer excellent corrosion protection and can also be colored by adding certain electrolytes during the process. The color can range from light to dark shades depending on the process parameters. Chemical oxidation is a simpler process that involves immersing the product in a chemical solution to form an oxide layer. This is often used for products that require a basic level of oxidation for protection or appearance improvement.
Before the oxidation treatment, the die casting product needs to be properly prepared. The surface must be cleaned to remove any dirt, oil, or other contaminants that could affect the quality of the oxide layer. This can be done through degreasing and etching processes. During the oxidation process, the temperature, voltage, and time need to be carefully controlled. Incorrect parameters can lead to an uneven or defective oxide layer. After the oxidation treatment, a sealing process may be carried out to further enhance the corrosion resistance and improve the appearance by making the surface more smooth and shiny.
