The shielding cover is an important electronic component used to protect electronic equipment from external electromagnetic interference, thereby ensuring the normal operation of the equipment. So, what material is generally used for shielding covers?


1. Metal materials

Metal has good shielding effect and conductivity, so metal materials are the main choice for manufacturing shielding covers. At present, the most widely used metal materials include the following:


Steel plate: The shielding effect of steel plate is very good and can reach more than 50dB. Its disadvantages are its heavy weight and difficulty in processing.


Aluminum plate: The shielding effect of aluminum plate is also very good, which can reach more than 40dB. Aluminum plates are lighter in weight than steel plates and have simpler processing techniques.


Copper plate: The shielding effect of copper plate is also very good, which can reach more than 50dB. Copper plates are more conductive and corrosion-resistant than aluminum plates.


2. Alloy materials

Alloy materials refer to materials made by smelting and mixing two or more metal elements. Alloy materials not only have the advantages of metal materials, but can also overcome the shortcomings of metal materials to a certain extent. The application of alloy materials to manufacture shielding covers can improve the shielding effect and mechanical properties and extend the service life. At present, the following alloy materials are widely used:


Metal coating: Metal coating refers to coating metal on the surface of other materials to achieve a shielding effect. Commonly used metals for coating include copper, aluminum, nickel, gold, silver, etc.

3. Other materials

Absorbing materials: Absorbing materials can absorb the energy of electromagnetic waves and reduce the reflection and transmission of electromagnetic waves. Commonly used absorbing materials include ferrite, graphite, carbon fiber, etc.
